Indore: In all 40 students of every medical colleges in the city will visit villages to get acquainted with villagers’ way of living, their culture and health problems they face. Students will stay in villages for three days in the camp to be conducted by an organisation called Students for Development (SFD). The SDF has launched a project called ‘Gaon chalein hum’ (Let’s go to village).
Vice-chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University Dr R S Sharma has sent a letter to all the medical colleges associated with the university to select the students for joining the camp to be held in villages.Dr Sharma has also asked the colleges to send it a list of students who will attend the camp.
“SDF holds camps in villages of Madhya Pradesh with an aim to give exposure to students about rural life, their health care requirements and their problems in general,” Ashish Yadav, state head of SDF told Free Press. In addition to medical students, the students of city’s engineering colleges have also been participating in the programme.
“This way, students will become responsible and work towards making society better. Exposure to villages will help them to know the country’s real picture,” he said. Student for Development had recently conducted a camp in Jhabua and Ratlam districts. The next camp will be organised in Mahakaushal area. Dean of MGM Medical College, Indore, Dr Sharad Thora said he couldn’t read the letter by MPMSU. “But we will definitely send our students to such camps,” he added.
