‘Suspect seen roaming for two hours outside murdered senior citizen’s building’

The man accused of murdering a 78-year-old retired CPWD engineer at his home in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on Tuesday conducted a reconnaissance of the building for two hours, said police on Wednesday.

The police said they have obtained footage from CCTV cameras located in the both the victim’s building and the adjacent building. They added that a suspect is seen roaming around victim Jugal Kishore’s building for nearly two hours in the footage before entering the apartment block where the senior citizen was found murdered.

“A suspect is seen in most of the footage we have procured. Initial probe points to the role of an insider because the murderer seemed aware that the victim was alone at home,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar. He added that two domestic helps who work at the victim’s flat have been questioned but no significant information has been gathered so far.

“We have not rule out robbery as ₹5,000, a gold ring, a bangle and a chain have been reported missing from the victim’s home,” added Mr. Kumar.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, when Kishore was alone at home. His wife Shashi had gone to the nearby market. She returned at 7:28 p.m. and found her husband lying in a pool of blood said the police.
