U Sammilani celebrates Jayadeva birth anniv

Bhubaneswar: The Utkal Sammilani and the Jaydev Vihar Auto Owners’ Association celebrated the birth anniversary of famous ‘Gita Govinda’ poet Jayadeva and paid floral tributes at his statue at Jaydev Vihar here on Wednesday. Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma, local Corporator Subharnshu Patnaik, auto association advisor Chandrakant Mishra, president Kabindra Paschimaray, Sridhar Sahu, Pramod Nayak, Sital Chandra Mohanty, Govind Chandra Subudhi, Ashok Kumar Paltasingh, Shiv Prasad Mishra, Kailash Panigrahi, Maheswar Biswal, Akhaya Jethi, Ajay Kanungo and Niranjan Patra were present.

Brahmananda Saraswati centenary held

Bhubaneswar: The Swami Dayanand Saraswati Mission celebrated the Swami Brahmananda Saraswati centenary with much fervour here on Wednesday. Organisation chairman Dr Aryakumar Jnanendra presided over the programme. Former Assembly Speaker Sarat Kumar Kar and former Minister Dolagovinda Pradhan were chief guests. Bhartiya Charitable Trust chairman Dr Kishanlal Bhartiya was felicitated with the Brahmananda Saraswati Award. Among others, VHP, Odisha working chairman Dr Badrinath Patnaik, Dr Bimalendu Mohanty, former administrator Narendra Kumar Mishra, former judge Sanjay Panda, administrator Kamal Prasad Mahaptra, Dr Sourendra Mahapatra and Balmiki Patnaik were present.   

Blood donation camp held

Bhubaneswar: To observe the death anniversary of social activist Nityananda Jena, the Nityananda Jena Memorial Committee and the Biswakarma Building Construction and Wood Workers’ Union organised a blood donation camp here on Tuesday. A total of 52 units of blood were collected. Among others, union VP Pranati Mishra, Madan Mohan Dhal and Rashmi Ranjan Parida, committee members Purnachandra Patra, Saroj Jena, Gandharba Behera, Kamini Maharana, Manas Patra, Saroj Dash, Chitta Ranjan Jena, Bain Behera and Bulu Pati were present.
