All India Congress Committee (AICC) Chief Rahul Gandhi has postponed his Chhattisgarh tour proposed on April 24.

Busy schedule due to Karnataka Assembly polls is said to be the reason behind the same and now he is expected to come on third or fourth week of May.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday while talking to reporters revealed that the tour of Rahul Gandhi to the State has been postponed.

His programme schedule would now be revised for his possible tour in May end, Baghel said.

The AICC Chief was  to address public meeting at Sitapur in Surguja as well as was going to address silver jubilee convention of Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan in the state capital.

He had earlier toured the tribal dominated South Chhattisgarh region of Bastar and was to tour another tribal dominated region of North Chhattisgarh -- Surguja.

Baghel also expressed his apprehension on the rise of Maoist activities in Bastar and said that the Naxal infested areas had increased considerably compared to the Congress reign in the State till 2003.

He charged that ruling BJP government had failed to control the Maoist menace in Chhattisgarh.

The CGPCC Chief also opposed the change in route of Pendra- Gevra railway line and objected on dragging name of Congress leaders in it.
