Man Utd news: Why Jose Mourinho was right to slam Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba - Redknapp
HARRY REDKNAPP believes Jose Mourinho was right to blast his Manchester United players for their performance in the defeat to West Brom.
Following their improbable comeback against Man City, Manchester United were widely expected to beat West Brom and push them closer to relegation.
But United were far from their best and in the second half were stunned by a Jay Rodriguez goal.
After the match, Mourinho was scathing in his assessment of the players, accusing them of lacking focus.
He said: “I trust in my work. I have no reason not to – eight titles and three Premier Leagues and the last Premier League was not 20 years ago.

I think we protect players too much. If they play bad and they don’t put it all in, why should you keep sticking up for them and protecting them
"It was three years ago and I know how to win. I believe in myself but I don’t play.
“Probably because I won eight championships, I was not in the moon with the victory against them [City]. It was only three points.
“That didn’t make me feel super happy and, in my opinion, it affected some of the people that were too happy.
“I have lots of experience because I won eight titles and I was not over the moon ... but I saw lots of people who were on the moon. During the week I was trying to fight that.”

The likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez were thought to be the main targets of Mourinho’s ire.
And Redknapp believes Mourinho is entitled to criticise his players in public.
He told BT Sport: “Why shouldn’t he do that? I think we protect players too much.
“If they play bad and they don’t put it all in, why should you keep sticking up for them and protecting them.”
When asked if he would have done the same, Redknapp added: “Yeah I would do. You can keep fannying the public and coming up with some excuse. Mourinho came out and told it how it was.”
