Ujjain: Several couples tied the nuptial knot during mass marriage ceremonies organised by many organisations in the city on Akshay Tritiya. Nishulk sarvadharm samuhik vivah samiti Patel Nagar conducted the marriage of 121 couples under the Mukhya Mantri kanyadaan yojna.
Re-marriage of two widows and a divorced woman, as well as two inter caste marriages and marriage of a disabled couple was also conducted. Programme convener Keshar Singh Patel and committee president Raju Patel, administered the oath of planting a fruit tree, maintaining water bodies and the whole environment clean, to the newly married couples.
Energy minister Paras Jain was the chief guest while Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya presided over the programme. Pradeep Pandey, Jagdish Agrawal, Om Jain, Ramesh Chandra Sharma, Bahadur Singh Bormundla, Janpad CEO AK Jain, Hazari Lal Malviya and Mahesh Khandelwal were special guests.
The marriages were conducted as per the rituals by Pt Lakshminarayan Sharma. Programme coordinator Keshar Singh Patel, committee president Raju Patel, Mahesh Verma, Gopalkrishna Saini, Gattusingh Meena, Naveen Jain, Dinesh Vishwakarma, Ambaram Verma, Kamalsingh Meena, Kaushalyadevi Patel, Hema Verma and Dimple Sharma played an important role in organizing the whole programme successfully.
17 couple got married in the second Prajapati adarsh samuhik vivah samaroh of Prajapati community. According to programme patron Ashok Udaywal, Paras Jain was the chief guest of the programme while the special guests were Jagdish Agrawal, Congress Committee secretary Chetan Yadav, Zila Panchayat president Mahesh Parmar, District Congress Committee president Anantnarayan Meena, former MLA Rajendra Bharti, Ujjain Municipal Corporation chairman Sonu Gehlot, Vivek Yadav, Murli Morwal, Ashok Prajapat and Durga Shankar Prajapati. Several other community members were also present in the programme.
15 couples of the Rajput community got married in the mass marriage programme organised by the community at Ramrajya Gaushala on Barnagar road. Gaushala president Popsingh Thakur said that the Gaushala was organising mass marriages from years so that people do not waste money on marriage and all the community members come on one platform together.
The 23rd samuhik vivaah sammelan of Meena Kshatriya Samaj was held at Shri Ram Mandir Meena Kshatriya Samaj Dharmshala in which 13 couples tied the knot. The marriages were conducted as per the rituals under the guidance of Pt Shyamnarayan Vyas. The programme was mainly attended by the Anantanarayana Meena, Suresh Deswali, Kamal Singh Bamnawat, Ganpatlal Beplalavat, Chhitar Singh Dumala, Ratanlal Chanda, Mohanlal Jonwal, Jagdish Jareda, Dinesh Chandwada, Sohan Pakal, Mahendra Pakal and Shailendra Jareda.
