KL Rahul has hit the most number of boundaries for KXIP this season with 15 fours and 8 sixes in 3 innings he has played.
o Karun Nair has hit 13 boundaries (10 fours and 3 sixes)
o Chris Gayle has 11 boundaries (7 fours and 4 sixes)
• Gayle, KL Rahul and Karun Nair have a collective strike rate of 172.88. The rest of the team collectively strikes at 118.50.
• All the three top run getters have a 50+ score this season and all of them have come at Mohali.
o KL Rahul- 51 vs DD, Mohali
o Karun Nair- 50 vs DD, Mohali
o Chris Gayle- 63 vs CSK, Mohali.

18:49(IST)

The trio have collectively hit 47 boundaries in their 3 opening matches and boast a balls/boundary ratio of 3.77. The rest of the team have scored only 22 boundaries between them. The rest of the team have hit their boundaries at a rate of 7.86 balls per boundary, almost 4 balls more than the 3 highest run getters.

18:44(IST)

One major worry for Kings XI Punjab will be the overdependence on the top 3 players to score runs for them.  The trio of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle and Karun Nair have scored 306 runs collectively in the IPL this season. Out of the 511 runs scored by KXIP this season, the trio have contributed to 59.88% of the total runs.

18:39(IST)

All the more, Pandey has scored only 1 boundary in this season so far and has a balls/boundary ratio of 19.00! On the flipside, Pandey had scored 18 boundaries in 2017 and took 5.44 balls per boundary. Pandey also had a phenomenal strike rate of 155.10 in his 3 matches in the last season as compared to his lowly strike rate of 78.94 this season.

18:30(IST)

Manish Pandey's form though will be a major worry for Sunrisers Hyderabad, they had invested heavily in him and he was to be one of the mainstays of the middle-order, but in the limited chances that he has got so far, he hasn't impressed at all. Scoring just 15 runs at an average of 7.50 in 2 innings.

18:20(IST)

Shikhar Dhawan too has seen a resurgence in his form and looks to be more confident about his game than ever, scoring runs with relative ease and also looking settled a the crease. He seems to know the limits of his game and is playing within those boundaries, he has also put a price on his wicket which is good for the team. Can he continue to show the same resurgence against Punjab?

18:12(IST)

Meanwhile, Aussie all-rounder James Faulkner feels Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have the strongest bowling attack in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the likes of in-form pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and leg spinner Rashid Khan in their rank.
"I think the strongest one (in term of bowling attack) has to be Sunrisers (Hyderabad). Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has been in great form for a couple of IPLs, (so) that will be my number one," the 27-year-old Faulkner said.
"And the wrist spinner, who is the best in the World in T20s?" he said, referring to Khan, the Afghanistan leg spinner who has grabbed two wickets from three games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this edition of the cash-rich event.

18:01(IST)

About IPL, which is over a decade-old , Saha said, "IPL is a great platform for any player, more so for budding players, it is such a platform where they get opportunity to rub shoulders with senior players from around the globe, which helps them to further improve their game."
Saha, who has played 32 Tests for India, revealed that he has been fond of the shorter format of the game since the beginning. He recently hit 14 sixes en route a 20-ball hundred during a T20 inter-club game in Kolkata.
"I always liked playing T20 from the start and enjoy this format. Earlier on, in KXIP, I got few opportunities to play the shorter format of the game. I also got a chance to play the Tests but whatever opportunity you get, you have to perform and my aim is to contribute and help my team win," he said.

17:55(IST)

Saha believes that even copybook shots can fetch him runs and there is no need to play unconventional shots. "I prefer to hit over the circle when opportunity comes (during the Powerplay overs). I play my regular cricketing shots and I have not come up with any unconventional stroke," the Bengal stumper added.
Saha admitted that solid show from the bowling unit has eased the pressure on the batsmen as they have not had to chase any stiff total so far. "Apart from the bowlers who are in the playing XI, we have fantastic bench strength. Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Rashid Khan, Siddarth (Kaul), Shakib (Al Hasan), Billy Stanlake have been bowling well and have helped restrict the opposition to totals in the 150 region," he said.

17:50(IST)

Saha has so far scored 51 runs in three games with scores of 5, 22 and 24 respectively.
Asked if he would continue opening the innings, Saha replied:"This depends on team management. If I do well as an opener, I will be entrusted to take up the responsibility but if I don't come up to their expectations, then they may think of other options. But I want to even better my performance."
Saha was generous in his praise for new skipper Williamson. "Kane is always open to suggestions from teammates during the game. He gives us freedom and he remains very relaxed, calm and brings positive vibes. Under him, our team bonding is very good".

17:47(IST)

Meanwhile, SRH opener Wriddhiman Saha reckons that opening the batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a big positive for him. Saha has earlier opened the batting for Kings XI Punjab and even scored a hundred in a losing cause during the 2013 IPL final against Kolkata Knight Riders.
"I like to play my natural game. The coach (Tom Moody) and captain (Kane Williamson) have backed me on this and I have got opportunity to open the innings, which is a plus point. They have told me to play with freedom and play my natural shots," Saha said.

17:42(IST)

Sunrisers have consistently been one of the best bowling line-ups in the league, and that has always helped them be among the top spots. They have again gotten off to a fine start, winning the first three matches and going by early trends, they should be one of the favourites to qualify for the eliminators. Of the remaining 11 games, they need to win just 5 or 6 more to ensure a spot among the top 2

17:36(IST)

One of the other bowlers who has slipped under the radar a bit but has been absolutely sensational for the Sunrisers Hyderabad has been Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan, he has averaged 15.60 with the ball with an economy of 6.50 and conceded only 78 runs in 5 matches. He has been absolutely sensational for Sunrisers so far and was one of the key acquisitions for SRH in the auction.

17:28(IST)

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kane WIlliamson has easily filled the big vacuum left by David Warner. Not only is he the perfect fit as the captain, but at no.3 he also provides a bit more solidity to the SRH batting and allows the middle order with big hitters to play their natural game. That has allowed the Hyderabad batting line-up to flourish, although their bowling too has been on the spot which hasn't put much pressure on the batting.

17:15(IST)

One of the key worries for Kings XI Punjab will be the form of southpaw Yuvraj Singh, who has looked totally out of sorts in this year's IPL so far. He always seems to be wating for the short ball and that seems to have also effected his strokeplay.  He has scored just 36 runs in 3 games so far at an average of 12, which is dismal for a batsman of his calibre. If he doesn't hit form soon, then you might well see him face the axe!

17:04(IST)

Mayank Agarwal will be another batsman Kings XI will have high expectations from. He was in superb form during the Ranji Trophy, having one of the best domestic seasons. He though has failed to really take that domestic form into the IPL. One of the reasons for that could be the change in batting order as he has been asked to open and then drop to no.3 when Gayle was included back in the team. If he can get going, then it will certainly ease some pressure on the KXIP middle order and also give less headaches to captain Ashwin

16:56(IST)

Rashid Khan has so far picked 3 wickets in 2 matches against KXIP at an average of 19.33 with an economy of 7.25. Will he continue to show his good form today in Mohali?

16:50(IST)

Another intriguing battle to look out for will be between Karun Nair and Rashid Khan. Karun Nair has been the man in for for KXIP in the middle order and has been the binding force of the team so far. Rashid Khan meanwhile has been the key strike bowler for SRH in the middle-overs. He is tough to score against and almost always guarantees you a wicket when batsman look to go after him. Can Karun Nair tackle him or will Rashid again prove to be the breakthrough bowler for SRH?

16:41(IST)

Chris Gayle slammed 63 runs at a strike rate of 190 in the last match and that must have givena huge boost to coach Virender Sehwag and the rest of the KXIP dressing room. An interesting fact though is that Gayle has a very poor record against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has scored 220 runs in 9 outings against the Hyderabad outfit at an average of 24.44, which his worst against currently active IPL teams. He has been dismissed 4 times by Sandeep Sharma, who was earlier with the KXIP franchise. Although, Sandeep's chances of playing the match hang in balance as Bhuvneshwar and Siddarth Kaul could be favoured over him.

16:35(IST)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not play the last match but could make comeback as SRH look to make it four out of four and go on top of the standings again. He has one of the best records while bowling to openers in the IPL. He also has a great record against right-handed batsmen. Add to that the fact that KL Rahul has tendency to play drives on the up outside the off stump and that makes him a candidate for caught behind against a bowler like Bhuvneshwar

16:25(IST)

Let us look at the strengths and weaknesses of both these teams -

KXIP have an in form opener in KL Rahul, who has shown that even a batsman with good technique can score runs at a very high strike rate. As Cricketnext's IPL pundit Aakash Chopra has said several times on our daily preview show Opening Salvo, "Technique tends to liberate a player like KL Rahul'. This is quite an accurate assessment of the batsman. Rahul has only one half-century in three innings so far but has got a start in each one of them, scoring 47 and 37 in the other two matches respectively. Rahul as an opener in T20s has been a revelation so far and he will look to lead the charge against the team, he started his career with

16:11(IST)

On the other hand we have the home team. Kings XI Punjab seems to have found their winning formula as well. Ravichandran Ashwin has looked in control while captaining the side. KL Rahul has been the standout batsman so far while Karun Nair has also looked in good touch. Chris Gayle's addition to the playing XI in the last match allowed the 'Universe Boss' the opportunity to show that he hasn't lost the big-hitting prowess. Punjab's spin department is spearheaded by captain Ashwin but the real star has been Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rehman, who has foxed some batsmen in the league already. The pace bowling battery doesn't look that sharp and could be the team's achilles heel against the Sunrisers.

16:05(IST)

The second week of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League is drawing towards a close and there are definite patterns and trends emerging in terms of which teams will be expected to challenge for the top 4 slots. The team which has looked the strongest so far in this tournament is the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 2016 champions have not been dented by the absence of their star skipper David Warner. Kane Williamson has taken over the reins and looks as sharp as anyone while leading his unit. Blessed with perhaps the best bowling attack, SRH have so far won all three of their matches. In Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake, Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul, the Orange Army has a potent pace attack, and the spin of Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan has proved to be more than handy. Shikhar Dhawan has been leading the charge with the bat at the top of the order. The likes of Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan are providing the much needed firepower lower down the order. Playing away from home tonight but Sunrisers will still start as favourites at Mohali

While Punjab have registered two wins in three matches so far, Hyderabad have won three games in a row, as both the teams registered crucial wins at the beginning of the tournament. The match at the Punjab Cricket Stadium pits a home side that has a lot of batting firepower against a Hyderabad side that is very balanced and their bowling line-up one of the best in the tournament. Punjab's top-order batsmen Lokesh Rahul, Karun Nair -- both from Karnataka -- have delivered in the first three matches. One thing that will please the northern outfit is the return to form of West Indian marauder Chris Gayle, who blasted 63 off 33 deliveries during their four-run win over Chennai Super Kings in their last match. However, Punjab will want another veteran, Yuvraj Singh, and Mayank Aggarwal to also be among the runs as the home batsmen will require to be on top of their game against the Hyderabad bowlers. SRH's strength lies in their bowling which has a lot of variety. They have restricted their opponents in three matches within the 150-run mark. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who bowled 18 dot balls against Mumbai Indians, is a prime example. Besides Rashid, the likes of Billy Stanlake, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shakib Al Hasan, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul provide a lot of options. Bhuvneshwar did not play against MI due to back pain but came back strongly to pick up three wickets for 26 runs against KKR, which must have relieved the Kane Williamson-led side. Also, one cannot underestimate SRH's batting might. Hyderabad's all three wins have come while chasing. Shikhar Dhawan, with 130 runs so far, has continued his superb form in the limited-overs cricket. With two crucial knocks of 50 and 36, Williamson has sent a message that the pressure of captaincy even in T20 cricket doesn't overpower him. Williamson has been a class act for New Zealand and continues to be so here, ensuring that the side doesn't miss the leadership shown by former captain David Warner. Hyderabad may continue to use wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha as a top-order batsman even if he has not cashed in on the opportunities so far. Apart from him, the likes of Shakib, Manish Pandey are proven performers and will look to showcase their talent again, especially against Punjab bowlers who have proved to be expensive, barring young Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Captain Ravichandran Ashwin will hope fellow bowlers like Andrew Tye, Mohit Sharma and Barinder Sran restrict the Hyderabad line-up. The squads: SRH: Kane Williamson (Captain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Manish Pandey, Rashid Khan Arman, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), Sandeep Sharma, Shakib Al Hasan, Carlos Brathwaite, Yusuf Pathan, Mohammad Nabi Eisakhil, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Billy Stanlake, Siddharth Kaul, Deepak Hooda, Syed Khaleel Ahmed, Shreevats Goswami, Basil Thampi, T. Natarajan, Bipul Sharma, Mehdi Hasan, Ricky Bhui, Sachin Baby, Tanmay Agarwal. KXIP: Ravichandran Ashwin (Captain), Axar Patel, Yuvraj Singh, Karun Nair, Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, David Miller, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Agarwal, Ankit Rajpoot, Manoj Tiwary, Mohit Sharma, Mujeeb Zadran, Barinder Sran, Andrew Tye, Akshdeep Nath, Ben Dwarshuis, Pardeep Sahu, Mayank Dagar, Manzoor Dar.
