Jodhpur ‘techmaker’ recognised by Google

Nausheen Khilji led the first “women-inclusive community” in the country to develop a virtual experience directly on web browser with a 360 degree view.

A Jodhpur-based woman information technology (IT) professional, among three selected by Google from Rajasthan for its women ‘techmakers’ programme, has developed an eco-friendly examination system for “new methods of encryption and decryption in ad hoc networks”.

Nausheen Khilji, 27, led the first “women-inclusive community” in the country to develop a virtual experience directly on web browser with a 360 degree view.

The Google-supported Women Techmakers’ Community felicitated Ms. Khilji at a technical meet-up on April 3. Experts attending the event called for creating an atmosphere that gives women equal opportunities in IT-related fields.

Ms. Khilji, who is at present an Assistant Professor in Jodhpur’s Maulana Azad University, told The Hindu that she was concentrating utilising robotics technology for academics in order to create virtual classrooms and improve the access of students to the vast resources available as reference material in the domains of their interest.

“Since the beginning of my career, I have opted for a path less travelled. We need to ensure optimum utilisation of the limited resources available for addressing the needs of disadvantaged women,” she said.

The meet-up witnessed deliberations by IT experts, students, social activists and artists.
