VADODARA: A fire broke out at a scrap godown in the Kothamba village of Mahisagar district on Wednesday afternoon.
Eight persons who were present in the godown were rushed to the Godhra civil hospital for treatment after they suffered from suffocation.

The fire took place due to a blast in an LPG cylinder at the scrap godown. The blast led to a fire in the godown. Eight persons who were present in the godown including those who used to work there or collect scrap and supply it to the godown were trapped in the godown.

Fire tenders from Godhra and Lunawada rushed to the village to douse the fire. The eight persons who were present in the godown were rescued and taken in a 108 emergency services ambulance to the Godhra civil hospital.

Sources said that the condition of the eight persons had improved significantly after primary treatment by the paramedics of the ambulance service. They were admitted to the hospital in Godhra to keep them under observation and their condition was stable. The reason for the blast is yet to be ascertained.
