Burnley welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor still hot on the heels of Arsenal for a place in the Premier League's top six.

The Clarets can go ahead of the Gunners by a point if they win tonight.

Chelsea, in contrast, go into the clash with their top-four hopes hanging by a thread.

The Blues trail fourth-placed Tottenham by eight points, even if Spurs have played a game more.

BURNLEY 0-1 CHELSEA

48: I don’t want to over-simplify things, but Burnley really need to get in Chelsea faces here. Giving the London club far too much respect.

45: Back underway. Former Burnley midfielder Graham Alexander thought Nick Pope should have dealt with Victor Moses’ cross better. A return for Tom Heaton on the cards?

LEICESTER 0-0 SOUTHAMPTON

HT: A thoroughly uninspiring game unfolding at the King Power Stadium. Mark Hughes’ side have 10 men behind the ball and are punting it forward to Long every now and then.

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Lonny: As the title of a George Harrison album says, ‘All things must pass’, and it looks as though Burnley’s impressive winning streak is coming to an end.

Tussah: Seems like no one told Tiemoue Bakayoko the team strategy today. Been just walking around like he is at a park. Gary Cahill has been amazing so far, playing some really good passes. Olivier Giroud & Alvaro Morata partnership looks promising.

Gooner Mark: Sad moment half way through this game when you actually should be supporting Chelsea to keep Burnley off your back!

BURNLEY 0-1 CHELSEA

HT: Chelsea take a deserved one-goal lead in with them at the break. There was a big helping-hand from Kevin Long, but overall they dominated possession.

43: Not a great deal happening towards the end of the half. Some news you may find interesting is that I’ve just swapped the worst chair ever created for the bosses. This chair is worth getting sacked for.

40: Bitterly disappointing stuff from Burnley. They’ve won five on the bounce but have shown almost nothing in attack. A bit too passive at the back also.

Now it's Kante's turn to embark on a mazy run after Bakayoko found him. The midfielder’s curled shot flies over the bar.

38: Pedro rides a few challenges and breaks free. His cross alludes the diving Morata and Long manages to hack it clear.

Funny to say this but Chelsea have played a lot better without Alonso, Willian, Fabregas and Hazard…

35: Emerson with a nice run down the left. He’s not put a foot wrong tonight. Giroud finds himself a pocket of space but Pope claims.

32: The Clarets enjoying a brief spell of attacking possession here. And just as I write that, Chelsea pounce.

Giroud plays a perfectly-weighted pass through to Morata, whose effort is saved by a sprawling Pope.

29: Matt Lowton channels his inner Kevin De Bruyne with a terrific crossfield pass to Ashley Barnes, who can’t quite bring it under his spell.

26: Morata takes down a long ball forward and Tarkowski drags him down rather blatantly. It looks like Pedro has inherited the set-piece duty…

23: No real response from the hosts. I don’t have the statistics to hand, but I know that Burnley very rarely win when conceding the first goal.

BURNLEY 0-1 CHELSEA - LONG OG

20: Calamity.

Victor Moses embarks on a fairly non-threatening run down the right flank. His hopeful cross across the six-yard box deflects off Kevin Long and rolls into the net.

Desperately unlucky for the hosts.

18: Not a great deal happening, so I’ll give you a wee update from the King Power Stadium. It’s still 0-0. Iheanacho puts one just wide of the post from 15 yards after a nice spell of one-touch football from the Foxes. Southampton look content to soak up the pressure and attack late.

15: Chelsea have started the brighter. They’ve dominated the ball and limited Burnley to precious few chances. None, in fact. Bodes well for the FA Cup semi-final I would say.

12: Close! Giroud and Morata combine like they’ve been playing together for years! Giroud flicks it over to the Spaniard, whose low angled shot is deflected wide.

9: Emerson looks to have been given clear instructions. Get down the left and bang a cross in. He’s just followed orders but Tarkowski headed clear.

Penalty appeal! Giroud is begging for a penalty. Long nicks the ball off his toes but does make contact. Referee Robert Madley isn’t interested.

6: How to play Burnley 101; don’t concede cheap free-kicks! Cahill brought down Gudmundsson a few yards from the right touchline, but the delivery is poor.

3: Interesting. Very interesting. It looks like Chelsea are playing a 3-5-2 formation with Pedro in a deeper role alongside Kante and Bakayoko. Not convinced about that myself but then again, I’m not paid millions to make the decision.

1: And we’re underway folks. We’e also started proceedings at the King Power Stadium as Southampton search for a crucial win over Leicester.

WAKE UP!

19:43: Still can’t get over how good Burnley’s walkout music is. Arcade Fire’s ‘Wake Up’ is the tune. Give whoever decided that a promotion!

HISTORY

19:38: I’ve just heard that Chelsea haven’t lined-up with two strikers since August 2011. Can you guess who they were?

OK, I got bored waiting for your response. It’s Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres.

UP FOR GRABS…

19:35: With the Premier League season reaching its business end, titles, promotions and relegations are beginning to be decided.

I suppose the big news tonight is that if Chelsea then drop points, Manchester United can wrap up a minimum fourth-place finish.

But judging by Antonio Conte’s team selection, I would hazard a guess that Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Southampton is his priority.

Kieran: So exciting to see little old Burnley mixing well in the top half. One of the stories of the season for sure and both Dyche and players deserve all the plaudits they get. Beat Chelsea tonight and we will be hot on their tail of 5th let alone just 6th. Dare to dream!

Tom: Excited to see Morata and Giroud line up together for the first time. Think Morata will benefit greatly from having a big man beside him occupying centre backs. Possibly a 4-4-2 with Moses in midfield.

Seb: Chelsea needs to win this! They should know that Spurs might have a usual end of the season collapse. Top 4 is still possible if Chelsea approach the remaining games right.

EXTRA SALT?

19:20: I think the majority of football fans were unimpressed with Antonio Conte’s rant about Sean Dyche earlier this week.

The Chelsea boss claimed Dyche, whose side are just two points behind Arsenal, has had it easy this season because of lower objectives and expectation.

“Sean is doing a great job this season – but if you start the season looking to fight to avoid the relegation zone it is more simple,” Conte said.

“It is simpler also if you have a small budget because you can count on a team that in the past has reached the qualification to stay in the league.

“You have to avoid the bottom three places, and then you are with ten other teams. If you have a good base and in the previous season played well, you can count on that base. You have to fight only to avoid that.”

OH MARCOS!

19:15: Don’t even talk to me about Marcos Alonso.

I’m involved in a bitter fantasy football feud with a colleague and the Spanish full-back was my not so secret weapon tonight.

Alonso was been handed a three-match ban following his challenge on Southampton's Shane Long last weekend.

The left wing-back appeared to stand on the back of Long's leg during their Premier League game on Saturday and the incident went unpunished by referee Mike Dean.

The FA confirmed Alonso had denied the violent conduct charge and "further submitted that if found proven the suspension would be excessive". He was found guilty at his Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today.

Good opportunity for Emerson Palmieri to make an impression though.

WAIT…

19:10: Guys, I don’t want to alarm you but tonight will basically decide whether England are going to win the World Cup 2018…

It turns out that Burnley haven’t played European football for 52 years.

*does the maths quickly*

Yep, that’s 1966. England had just won the World Cup and the Clarets played Stuttgart and Napoli.

I don’t thinking I’m jumping the gun when I say football’s coming home!

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Tommy: Oh, I’m not sure about the starting line-up tonight. No Hazard, Willian or Cesc. I do suppose that squad rotation has been a key talking point over the last few weeks, so we can’t really complain. Let’s hope Burnley ain’t up for it...

Jake: Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata. Absolutely no idea if that’s going to work.

Richard: I’ve got no idea what’s going on in midfield and attack. Lump it all on Burnley in any case. Antonio Conte’s after that severance pay…

TEAM NEWS - CHELSEA

18:55: If I could draw your attention away from the glorious photo of Antonio Conte (above), I’d like to run you though Chelsea’s side.

The sunlight is hitting his hair perfectly…

Sorry, distracted again. The Italian has made six changes from the side who beat Southampton 3-2 on Saturday lunchtime.

In come; Olivier Giroud, Antonio Rudiger, Victor Moses, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Pedro and Emerson Palmieri.

Out go; Eden Hazard, Marcos Alonso, Willian, Cesc Fabregas, Davide Zappacosta and Andreas Christensen.

TEAM NEWS - BURNLEY

18:50: This will be quick. Burnley's entire squad is unchanged from Saturday's victory over Leicester.

EVENING…

18:40: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.

Thursday night football without Arsenal playing? It just feels wrong…

With the obligatory (and quite frankly unnecessary) dig at Arsenal out of the way, let’s focus on who is actually playing.

Chelsea and Burnley meet at Turf Moor with the battle for European qualification at stake, while Leicester welcome relegation-threatened Southampton to the King Power Stadium.

Still not excited? Well what would you say if I told you that watching BBC’s ‘Not Going Out’ was your only other option? Good. Let’s begin.

BURNLEY vs CHELSEA

Burnley will still be without defender Ben Mee and winger Scott Arfield.

Mee has missed the last two matches after suffering a stress reaction at the bottom of his shin, but has an outside chance of returning against Stoke on Sunday, while Arfield has been sidelined for two months by a calf problem.

Jon Walters has recovered from his knee problem, but needs to get match fit, having only played twice since September, while Steven Defour and Robbie Brady (both knee) both have some way to go.

Danny Drinkwater is a doubt owing to a groin injury.

Marcos Alonso is now ruled out having been handed a three-match ban following his challenge on Southampton's Shane Long last weekend.

David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu, owing to respective long-term knee and ankle injuries, are regardless both absent.
