BENGALURU: Assert ing that the BJP would make Karnataka a corruption-free, a model and number one state, BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday wooed traders and professionals in the city by listing out the achievements of Narendra Modi government while coming down heavily on the Congress in Karnataka.

“Bengaluru’s traffic is halting the development of Karnataka. In the last five years, least importance was given to the development of infrastructure. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah goes around wearing a medal of corruption and has ruined Bengaluru,” Shah told a gathering of businessmen, organised by the BJP in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The BJP president, who is addressing various informal guilds as parts of his election campaign, also questioned the contribution of the Congress to the nation. “The Congress ruled for 60 long years but many people were deprived of even basic facilities including access to toilets. Our schemes have helped crores of people including youths to set up business,” he said.

He said the BJP government at the Centre was making efforts to ensure smooth implementation of GST. “The GST was introduced only after consulting chief ministers of all states. It was a unanimous decision. Whenever there is an issue, the GST Council resolves it,” he said.
