Jain acharya spreads message of peace

Jain Acharya Mahashraman, 11th Acharya of the Terapanth Dharma Sangha, delivered a spiritual discourse at the Alwar Das grounds at MVP Colony on Wednesday. Acharya Mahashraman is on an ‘Ahimsa Yatra’ across three countries and 19 States, covering over 16,000 km. The ‘ambassador of peace’ had started the yatra, to spread the message of peace, non-violence and deaddition, on Nov 9, 2014 from New Delhi on foot.

Akshaya Tritiya, which was celebrated on Wednesday, is an auspicious day for Jains. On this day, Jains break their fast. Some members live only on water for a month till Akshaya Tritiya and break the fast in the presence of their guru.

These devotees offer the sugarcane juice to their guru and taken it from him as ‘prasadam’. Devotees from various places in India participated in the programme.
