Belfast plane crash: Fatalities confirmed as rescuers rush to scene

A PLANE has crashed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with emergency responders confirming people have died in the tragedy.

Belfast plane crash: Two people have died after a plane crashed near Belfast International Airport

A plane has crashed near Belfast International Airport with at least two people losing their lives. 

The plane is believed to have plummeted to the ground at around 12.20pm near Loanends Road. 

Two people are feared to have been killed, the Belfast Telegraph reports. 

The plane is thought to be a small Cessna aircraft. 

Paramedics and three ambulance crews along with police officers and an air ambulance are at the scene.

An ambulance spokesman said: "The incident is ongoing."

Local politician Pat Catey said: “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the ongoing incident at Nutts Corner following a crash involving a light aircraft on its approach to Belfast International Airport.

“I understand that the Air Ambulance and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene. I have been in touch with staff at Belfast International Airport and I will continue to monitor the situation closely.

“Thinking of all of those involved at this difficult time."
