Paradip Port land losers hold Farmers’ Day

On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, a large farmers’ meeting was held here at Zero Point. The Gourahari Farmers’ Seva Trust and the Paradip Port Land Losers’ Association jointly organised the meeting under the chairmanship of noted trade union leader Santosh Kumar Pattnaik.

In early morning, Bhoomi Pooja and Akshya Tritiya Utsav were celebrated with traditional fervour. This was followed by the farmers’ meeting presided over by land losers’ association president Chinmay Das. Senior farmer leader Kshetrabasi Jena joined as chief speaker and Baishnab Charan Patnaik as chief guest.

Hundreds of farmers from Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts were present at the meeting. Padma Lochan Das, Manindra Guru, Dillip Kumar Behera, Arup Patnaik, Niranjan Nayak, Abhiram Samal, journalist Prasant Kumar Rout also attended as guests. Welcome address was given by joint secretary Tilokyanath Samantray. Hundreds of farmers were felicitated on the occasion. A vote of thanks was offered by secretary Mihirkant Sahoo.
