GAD official behind order transferred

The bureaucrat who signed on the government order cancelling the appointment of nine advisers and consultants to Ministers on Tuesday was transferred out of the General Administrative Department (GAD) on the same day.

Promila Mitra, an ad hoc Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) officer, had signed the order in her capacity as deputy secretary GAD.

The Services Department, on Tuesday, transferred 87 ad hoc DANICS officers to various departments with Ms. Mitra’s name figuring on the top of the list. She was transferred to the Trade and Taxes Department.

Meanwhile, the sacked advisers continued to discharge some of their duties in their respective Ministers’ offices as volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and, according to party sources, would continue to do so.

Sources claimed that there was a possibility that they would, in the coming days, be accommodated in roles the broad contours of which would, however, be “decided later”.
