Police use stun gun to arrest man on packed Sydney bus

Passengers on a packed inner city bus have been subjected to a terrifying scene as police used a Taser on a man who'd been accused of assaulting and harassing a number of people onboard.

The officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command had been conducting random breath testing on Anzac Parade at Moore Park around 2.30pm when they boarded the 377 bus, after the driver signalled them for assistance.

The police were told a man on the bus had assaulted two passengers, and when officers attempted to speak with him, he was uncooperative before allegedly assaulting an officer, a spokesman for NSW Police said.

Video footage of the incident shows the man is seated when a police officer orders him off the bus. Instead of getting up, the man lashes out with his hand. It's then that the officer deploys the Taser on the man.

Passengers seated behind the man are seen scrambling away as police continue to use the stun gun on him.

The man eventually runs out of the open bus door, but police quickly get him on the ground.

According to NSW Police, a 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills police station, where he is yet to be charged.

Nobody was injured in the incident, the police spokesman said.
