1,350 posts vacant in Govt med colleges

Over 1,350 teaching and nonteaching posts are lying vacant in Government medical colleges in the State, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Wednesday.

According to the data, there are 108 teaching (doctor) and 111 nonteaching posts are lying vacant in the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack while 104 teaching and 82 other posts are vacant in the VIMSAR, Burla. Similarly, 75 teaching and 98 nonteaching posts are vacant in the MKCG Medical College Hospital, Brahmapur.

A total of 194 posts, including 15 teacher posts, are lying vacant in the new PRM Medical College at Baripada. Similarly, 161 posts, including 12 teacher posts are vacant in SLL Medical College at Koraput.

There are 10 posts, including a teacher, are vacant in the Dental College in the SCB Medical premises.

The State’s three Government Ayurvedic medical colleges are running with vacancies also. While 26 teaching and 64 nonteaching posts are vacant in the Government Ayurvedic Medical College at Puri, 28 teaching and 64 nonteaching posts in Government Medical College in Bolangir and 83 posts, including 24 teaching posts, vacant in the Ayurvedic Medical College at Ankushpur in Ganjam.

Similar is the situation with the Homeopathic medical colleges. While 28 out of 37 sanctioned posts are vacant in the DR Abhinna Chandrra Medical College, 29 out of 36 posts in the Utkalmani Homeopathic Medical College at Rourkela are vacant. Similarly, 30 out of 36 teaching ports in Sambalpur Homeopathic College and 27 out of 35 teaching posts in the Homeopathic College at Brahmapur are vacant. 

A total of 507 teaching and 846 nonteaching posts are vacant in these Government medical colleges, according the data.
