LPG panchayat at Kandanad today

New connections to be issued under Ujjwala scheme

As part of the Ujjwala Divas observance on Friday, an ‘LPG panchayat’ will be organised at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Kandanad, Udayamperoor, on Friday.

Rajiv Bansal, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, will be the chief guest at the LPG panchayat which will be inaugurated at 9.30 a.m. Thripunithura municipal chairperson Chandrika Devi and Udyamperoor grama panchayat president John Jacob will be present, said a press release here.

The LPG panchayat will be an occasion to sensitise Ujjwala beneficiaries about the safety and utility of LPG as well as the health benefits of using the clean fuel. There will be distribution of new connections to beneficiaries, explanation of details of the expanded Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) categories and collection of KYC forms for expanded categories of Ujjwala, the release added. Public sector oil marketing companies are holding a total of 27 LPG panchayats in Ernakulam district. As many as 458 LPG panchayats will be organised across the State.
