Announce date for GB elections, DU tells college principals

The Delhi University (DU) has written to all the principals of colleges to formally announce the date of elections for electing Chairperson and Treasurer of the Governing Bodies (GB) of the respective colleges.

The DU, in the backdrop of receiving various representations regarding convening of the meeting of GB's allegedly without giving reasonable time for holding such meeting to elect Chairperson and Treasurer of GB, has written to principal, officiating principals, acting principals and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) who are also the member Secretary of the GB's of the colleges.

DU administration has asked colleges for convening the introductory meeting of all the members of the newly constituted GB to brief them about the functioning and vision of the respective colleges. Varsity has also asked them to seek nominations from the members for the post of Chairperson and treasurer of the Governing Body. It has also asked principals to hold elections for electing chairperson and treasurer of GB.

“It is not out of place to mention that smooth functioning of Governing Bodies is very crucial for overall administrative and academic development of the Institution, therefore, the meeting of GB primarily in order to elect the Chairperson and Treasurer should be convened in a transparent manner following due process so that all the members may participate in these meetings and contribute positively towards academic and administrative development of the college,” read a letter to principals from the university administration.
