Hamilton has previously spoken about diversity issues in Formula One.
The four-time world champion is racing in his 12th season in F1.
And when asked by magazine Robb Record about women participating more in the sport, Hamilton was quick to signal his backing.
“There needs to be more women involved,” the Brit said.
“It’s just dudes everywhere.
“I mean, across the whole spectrum: engineering, marketing.

“We don’t have any female racing drivers.
“I’ve got a great aerodynamicist who is female, and she’s just crazy into cars.”
F1 this year took the step to axe grid girls from Grands Prix, which was largely considered as a progressive move for the sport.
Susie Wolff is the only female in recent times to have got close to driving an F1 car during a Grand Prix.
The now-retired driver took part in practice sessions for Williams in the 2014 season but never got onto the grid.

As for Hamilton, who owns a 1966 427 Shelby Cobra and a GT500, he was also asked why he loves muscle cars.
“I think it’s the normally aspirated engines,” he told Robb Report.
“I love the roar. The cars are quite flimsy; the technology is terrible.
“But when you look at the Cobra, it’s so elegant. They don’t make cars like that today.”
