Cape Town - The Leopards will no longer play their home matches at the 98-year-old Olën Park stadium.
Andries de Kock, CEO of the Leopards Rugby Union, told Netwerk24 that the decision was made due to safety issues.
“We can’t obtain a security certificate which by law is a requirement,” De Kock said.
He added that necessary maintenance is needed on the stands and there is no money to do so.
The Leopards will play their first two home matches in this year’s SuperSport Challenge in Schweizer-Reneke (v Griffons, April 21) and Rustenburg (v Sharks XV, May 13).
The Leopards are also busy negotiating with the North West University to move their headquarters to the Fanie du Toit Sports Ground.
The Fanie du Toit Sports Ground is the home venue of the university's rugby team, Pukke, who play in the Varsity Cup.
