Singapore: Italy's oil major ENI has received approval of a plan of development (POD) of a natural gas field located offshore East Kalimantan in Indonesia, the company said in a statement dated April 18The Merakes gas field, discovered in 2014, is estimated to hold about 2 trillion cubic feet of lean gas in 1,500 meters water depth, ENI said
ENI plans to connect the field to the Jangkrik Floating Production Unit (FPU) which already operates in the region
Once completed, the field's gas would be sent through existing pipelines from the Jangkrik FPU to the Bontang liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facility in East Kalimantan, ENI said
