The Butler County Board of Commissioners approved a $300,000 loan for Global Parts Auto Group in Augusta at the weekly meeting Tuesday.

The Butler County Board of Commissioners approved a $300,000 loan for Global Parts Auto Group in Augusta at the weekly meeting Tuesday.

The $300,000 will be paid back to the county over seven years at a three percent interest rate. Global Parts Auto Group Inc. at 1604 Custer Lane in Augusta, makes customized HumVees from chassis built by AM General. The work done by Gobal includes interior kits, doors, tops and changing out HumVee engines. Each finished product sells for a retail price from $175,000 to $200,000.

District 3 Commissioner Ed Myers voted against the loan and had some concerns with the two distributors of HumVees overseas. Global Parts Auto Group owner Troy Palmer assured the commission that every product that came through his door was already paid for by the customer.

Butler County Emergency Medical Services will receive two new vehicles after approval from the commission Tuesday. A 2018 Ford Explorer PI all wheel drive was approved for $32,140 from Shawnee Mission Ford in Shawnee. Also approved was a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 Tradesman crew cab 4x4 for $29,095 from Davis Moore Automotive in Wichita.

The county also bought two Power Brooms.

The two 2018 Superior Power Broom from Berry Tractor Company total $124,352. The two older power brooms will be sold. The Butler County Health Department renew its subscription to Champ Software, Inc. for its electronic health record system.

The Kansas Nightengale Notes subscription is $15,679 for one year. The Health Department is currently researching a more affordable and user friendly record keeping system.

In 2016, the Butler County Health Department paid $14,211. In 2017 the service cost $14,779.
