Charles Wendell "Chubby" Cofflin, 60, of Madison Heights, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Shirley Franklin Cofflin for 34 years. Born on August 7, 1957, in Lynchburg, was the son of the late Charles Massie Cofflin and the late Evelyn Tyree Cofflin. Charles worked at the Lynchburg Foundry for 25 years and then went to work for the City of Lynchburg Public Works. After receiving his HVAC degree he went to work for Rock-Tenn Paper Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his vegetable gardens. Charles was a member of Campbell Avenue Baptist Church for 31 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Cofflin. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his daughters, Jessica Wells and husband, Alex and Wendy Cofflin Coley; five grandchildren, Jacob Coley, Jordan Coley, Kameron Dickerson, Parker Carson, and Kohen Wells; brothers, William Cofflin and David Cofflin; sister, Bonnie Cofflin; and numerous other family members and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor John Pickette officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends until 8 p.m. For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family would like you to consider Campbell Avenue Baptist Church.
