Tyne Daly is joining a reboot, just not the already-ordered reboot of the show she was most famous for being on.

The former Cagney & Lacey star has been cast in CBS' Murphy Brown revival, Deadline reports.

She'll be playing Phyllis, the sister of Phil, the beloved owner of the bar that bears his name where the FYI team hangs out. She took over the bar after Phil passed away. Pat Corley, who played Phil on the original series, died in 2006.

CBS is also working on a Cagney & Lacey reboot with Grey's Anatomy's Sarah Drew and Blindspot's Michelle Hurd. Daly won four Emmys for her performance as Lacey on the '80s buddy-cop crime procedural. Hurd will play Lacey in the reboot.

If Cagney & Lacey moves past the pilot stage, this could be a great (silly) opportunity for a crossover. Maybe Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) could do a story on Cagney & Lacey and meet with them at Phil's, and then self-referential hilarity will ensue.

Murphy Brown is expected to return this fall.

(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS.)
