Former Aliquippa football coach Mike Zmijanac is a head coach once again. He was hired Wednesday night as head coach at Ringgold.
Zmijanac, who had coached the Quips for 21 seasons through 2017, takes over for Nick Milchovich, who resigned after the 2017 season.
Ringgold broke the news of Zmijanac's hiring via Twitter by saying "It gives us great pleasure to welcome Mike Zmijanac as the new head coach of our football program. Welcome to Ringgold Coach Z."
Last year, Ringgold went 3-6 overall and failed to qualify for the WPIAL playoffs. The Rams are a Class 4-A program.
The Aliquippa school board voted in February to replace Zmijanac, who won 237 games and six WPIAL championships with the Quips. In March former Aliquippa quarterback Mike Warfield was hired to replace Zmijanac
