COIMBATORE: A BJP worker, who is a Christian, was attacked by three alleged RSS workers in Coimbatore on Thursday for allegedly converting Hindus to Christianity.
The victim has been identified as R Thangaraj, 45, who had earlier held a party post in ward 50 in the Coimbatore Corporation. Thangaraj converted to Christianity in 1994. He is still a BJP worker.

The trio, identified as Arumugham, Radhakrishnan and Paramasivam, approached Thangaraj when he was standing near Gandhi Nagar in Sivanandha Colony around 8am. They picked up a quarrel with him as he had allegedly converted some Hindus to Christianity. Later, they attacked him with a sickle.

Thangaraj, who suffered injuries on his shoulders and head, was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

The Rathinapuri police registered a case and began investigations.
