Tuesday, May 1

Butler Community College’s Life Enrichment will host Leon Leachman at 9 a.m. and Ken Spurgeon at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 at the Hubbard Welcome Center of the Butler of El Dorado campus.
Leachman, a retired Butler employee, will talk about the history of Israel, as well as what is going on in Israel today. He will share photos from a recent trip to Israel.
Spurgeon, executive director of Lone Chimney Films, will present and answer questions about Lone Chimney’s fourth film, “Home on the Range.” “Home on the Range” tells the origin story of Brewster Higley’s “Home on the Range” song and cabin, located in Smith Center, Kansas. In 1872, Higley, a frontier doctor, wrote the poem under the title “My Western Home,” inspired by his home, a small cabin along Beaver Creek, and celebrates the prairie.
Life Enrichment meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month during the school year. Area adults enjoy high-quality speakers and performers, along with a light breakfast and coffee at each regular meeting. Meetings take place in the Clifford/Stone Community Room at the Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Those who attend regularly are encouraged to register so they receive monthly newsletters announcing the programs. New members are always welcome. After the May meeting, the next session of Life Enrichment is September 4, 2018.
