Thiruvananthapuram: The
train signal register (TSR), a record of all passing trains, will be computerized soon at four stations of the Thiruvananthapuram division of Southern Railway. The stations are Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kayamkulam, Ernakulam Junction and Nagercoil.
Presently, the station master manually enters the TSR details of trains like the time of entry in station limits, time of departure and all associated processes.
The computerization of TSRs in the four stations will be enabled by a software designed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).
“The system will be gradually extended to the other stations in the division. The software will record the data and upload it automatically in the control chart of the railway server,” said divisional railway manger Prakash Butani.
The infrastructure for the system is ready in the Central and Kayamkulam railway stations. The cable laying works are on at Ernakulam and Nagercoil.
The project is being implemented as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency. The highlight of the system is the high-level transparency of the process which gives no scope for altering the data.
