MANGALURU: Minister for forest, environment and ecology Bellipady
Ramanath Rai filed his
nomination papers to contest from Bantwal constituency in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
Rai, accompanied by a large number of Congress workers, walked from party election committee office near BC Road KSRTC Bus Stand to Mini Vidhan Soudha in Bantwal to file nomination papers. Earlier, at a party workers meet, Rai said he has worked sincerely for the constituency during his stint as the MLA of Bantwal since 1995.
"Congress is my religion. I am not contesting in any religion's name. As per numerology, today is an auspicious day for good beginning. I am contesting as a Congress candidate from Bantwal for eighth time this year. People of Bantwal have blessed me in the last six elections. I have worked as minister for home, excise, transport, Fisheries and Ports, and forest departments. I don't want to reiterate my achievements. However, I can assure people of the constituency that I will work more if I am elected," Rai said.
