Thiruvananthapuram: As part of Traffic Awareness Week observation, ‘no-horn day’ will be observed in the state on
April 26. The state police, Indian Medical Association and state road transport department will be joining hands for the observance of
no-horn day.
The idea behind the initiative is to create awareness on noise pollution. A five-day-long awareness campaign is being planned across the state. The
IMA will be organizing awareness classes in all major cities.
The official inauguration of ‘no-horn day’ will be held at Manaveeyam Veedhi, which will be inaugurated by transport minister A K Saseendran. A public meeting and cultural programmes will be organized as part of the event.
On April 24 and 25 a medical check up for the auto and taxi drivers in the city will be held at district IMA office near General Hospital. All have been requested to utilize the opportunity. The medical camp will be specially focussing on hearing test for the drivers. Those who are interested in attending the camp can register their names at 2463514/2575630. tnn
