Popovich, who coaches the San Antonio Spurs, lost his wife last night, but his side didn’t comment on the death.
The loss shook NBA and LeBron James was also left heartbroken when he learned of the news after Cavs beat Indiana Pacers to level the playoff series at 1-1.
Lue was also left visibly upset and he took time after the game to pay tribute in his press conference.
“I just want to send condolences to Pop’s family,” Lue said.
So our thoughts and prayers go out to Pop and his family
“I’ve just been told the news about his wife and I’m very sorry to hear that.
“Pop’s family are in our prayers and anything we can do as the Cavs organisation, we are willing to help.
“So our thoughts and prayers go out to Pop and his family.”
