Adelbert stars in Goa Velha’s thumping win

Adelbert D’Souza netted a hat-trick as Goa Velha Sports Club registered a 7-3 win against Siddheshwar Sports Club in the GFA Air Arabia U-18 Football League match played at artificial turf grounds, Fatorda-Margao on Tuesday.

Adelbert found the mark in the 53rd, 54th and 60th minute while the other goals for Goa Velha were scored by Aaron Da Costa (15’), substitute Ruben Fernandes (63’), Hasan Shaikh (75’) and Rakesh Kunkolkar (78’).

For Siddheshwar SC, who led 2-1 in the first half, Revat Gavande scored a brace as he bulged the nets in the 18th and 80+2 minute, while Rakesh Tilgul scored their other goal in the 40+3 minute.

Siddheshwar SC, a new team from Bicholim Taluka, fought well in the first session and went 2-1 up against a superior Goa Velha side.

In the second session Goa Velha came up with renewed vigour and were helped by magical performance by Adelbert Da Souza who begin his goal-scoring spree in the 53rd minute. The second session was completely dominated by Goa Velha though Siddheshwar with their never-say-die spirit press hard in the last fifteen minutes of the game. However, the strong Goa Velha defence stood firm to quell their challenges except in the 80+2 minute when Revat Gavande netted his brace to save some grace.
