TULSA, Oklahoma -

Family and friends gathered on Wednesday to remember those who died in violent crimes.

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office sponsors the annual Day of Remembrance event.

It was held Wednesday evening at Chandler Park Community Center.

The goal is to show families that their loved ones are not forgotten.

“We have to come together in these cases.  This has to be a community effort.  Can’t just be a family suffering by themselves,” said Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan.  “It’s very difficult.  We all lose loved ones, but it’s far more difficult when it’s a result of crime.”

Flowers were given to family and friends in memory of their loved ones.
