IOWA CITY — Want to sit down and chat with an Iowa City police officer, but Coffee with a Cop isn’t your thing?

The Iowa City Police Department has you covered — with cheese.

On April 27, the police department will host its first Queso with a Cop at Pancheros, 32 S. Clinton St., from 2:30 — 4 p.m. Pancheros will provide chips and queso to participants on a first come, first served basis.

As with Coffee with a Cop, Queso with a Cop aims to be an opportunity for citizens to discuss issues and problems in the community with officers in a comfortable setting.

“This is an opportunity for our officers to continue our conversation with the community,” said downtown liaison officer Colin Fowler. “We want to make ourselves available at different times and to different tastes.”

Anyone interested in the event can RSVP at the Iowa City Police Department’s Queso with a Cop event on Facebook or contact Fowler for more information at 319-356-5275 or colin-fowler@iowa-city.org.
