LONDON—British regulators have launched an investigation into whether Russian state-backed news channel RT breached broadcasting standards in its coverage of the poisoning of a former spy.
The probe, announced Wednesday, adds another dimension to a widening diplomatic crisis between Moscow and the West over last month’s poisoning and other issues including alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and the Kremlin’s support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
