
TUESDAY’S HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Danbury wins softball thriller

The Danbury High School softball won an extra-inning thriller over Ridgefield, 7-6, in a game that ended under the lights in a snowstorm. Shannon Quinn singled to drive in Makenna Cooke with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth after Cooke had led off with a double. Danbury led 4-0 heading to the top of the seventh, when Ridgefield rallied for six runs to take the lead. Danbury answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie it. Azariah Bowden laced a two-out single to tie it in the bottom of the seventh. Pitcher Elizabeth Croxford pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to earn the win. Pitcher Alyssa DeStefano went the distance for Ridgefield and struck out two. Skylar Arent homered for Ridgefield and Sabrina Grizzaffi doubled. Emily Bogues had a double for Danbury.
