Rain likely in Uttarakhand

Another wet spell is awaiting the State when it has started grappling with the summer heat as a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the climate of the Western Himalayan region adjoining the plains from April 19. Under its impact, light rain/thunderstorm has been forecast for isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts for the next few days from April 19. However, the climate would remain generally dry in the state on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it drizzled at some places in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. In Dehradun too, drizzling was reported from some places during the morning hours. It turned sunny as the day progressed. While the maximum temperature settled at 36.1 degree Celsius the minimum hovered at 18. 8 degree Celsius in the city on the day. The highest maximum temperature of the state 37.3°C was recorded at Jaspur while the lowest minimum temperature 8.9°C was recorded at Purola. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Wednesday is mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 degree Celsius and 19 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Wednesday.

Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said on Tuesday that light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied with hail/squall has been forecast for many places under the impact of the approaching western disturbances in Uttarakhand for three days from April 19.
