CHANDIGARH: Two thieves broke into a hardware shop and decamped with cash of around Rs 1 lakh in the wee hours of Wednesday. Both the accused have been caught stealing the cash on the
CCTV camera installed at the shop.
Keshav, the shopkeeper, was targeted in 2016 also when two armed men had snatched a bag containing Rs 2.5 lakh at gun point from him.
The theft came to light when
Keshav came to open the shop and found the shutter of his shop broken and cash missing. When he checked the CCTV footage two accused were caught stealing cash from the shop. He informed the police and cops from
Manimajra police reached the spot. Dog squad and forensic team were also called up at crime scene.
On Keshav's statement, Manimajra police have registered a theft case and started a probe.
According to Keshav, thieves entered his shop by breaking the shutter at 4.44 am. "Thieves went inside the shop and broke the cash box containing Rs 1 lakh. The theives can be seen coming out of the shop at 4.49 am. In less than five minutes accused fled after committing the theft," said Keshav.
Keshav said that he suspected the involvement of one of his former employees.
"I had caught him red-handed stealing cash from shop in 2016 and later we had fired him. However, we had not given any official complaint against him at that time," said Keshav.
Keshav added that on September 22, 2016, two armed men had robbed him of Rs 2.5 lakh outside his shop.
