TRS supporters from Telangana protest in London during PM Modi's visit

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) supporters from Telangana in London held placards demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi allow the Telangana government to increase the percentage of reservations in the state. Modi is on a visit to London and a group of Telangana people lined up on a road to voice their demand.
"Dear Modiji, amend the article 16 (4) of the constitution allow the states to increase the reservations based on their population metrics," a placard that was held read.

Some of the other posters read: "Dear Modiji, increase the quota of reservations in Telangana state." Among those who participated in the protest include president of Telangana Jagruthi, UK, Suman Rao Balmuri, Uday Nagaraju, Srujan Reddy Chada and others.

Srujan Reddy Chada told TOI from London that 50 people from Telangana had gathered for the protest when Prime Minsiter Modi arrived at Parliament square.

It may be mentioned here that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had put forward a demand to the centre to allow it to increase the percentage of reservations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also requested to permit it as other states like Tamil Nadu was implementing more than 50 per cent reservations.

During the recent parliament session, TRS MPs held placards in parliament demanding that the centre permit increase in reservations so that the Telangana state government could implement them. However, the NDA government did not respond on it.
