Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 1139.33 crore into the secondary equity markets on 17 April 2018, as compared to net outflow of Rs 332.98 crore on 16 April 2018. On 17 April 2018, the Sensex rose 89.63 points or 0.26% at 34,395.06, its highest closing level since 26 February 2018.
The net outflow of Rs 1139.33 crore from the secondary equity markets on 17 April 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4564.92 crore and gross sales of Rs 5704.25 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 0.43 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 16 April 2018, which was a result of nil gross purchases and gross sales of Rs 0.43 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 5194.76 crore into the secondary equity markets in April 2018 so far (till 17 April 2018). They bought stocks worth a net Rs 6685.63 crore from the secondary equity markets last month.

FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 13424.29 crore from the primary market & others' category in calendar 2018 so far (till 17 April 2018). They bought stocks worth a net Rs 41485.09 crore from the primary market & others' category in calendar 2017.
