Ujjain: Mahakal city reverberated with chants of “Jai shri Parshuram” during two processions held separately by the youth and women of Brahmin community on Tuesday evening, on the eve of Parshuram Jayanti.
Hundreds of youths joined the ‘brahm-jagran yatra’ which was taken out under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Yuva Parishad. The rally began from Swami Vishwatmanand Annakshetra near Mahakaleshwar Temple and concluded at Shahid Park after passing through the main roads of the city. Youths carrying saffron flags and traditional arms raised slogans of Brahmin unity. Most of them rode two-wheelers, whereas senior community members and office-bearers marched on foot.
The rally, which was led by Parishad chief Pt Akash Azad Tiwari was welcomed with floral petals showered on them by different social organisations at Mahakal Ghati, Gudri Square, Patni Bazaar, Gopal Mandir, Chhatri Chowk, Sarafa, Kanthal, Nai Sadak, Daulatganj, Malipura, Dewasgate, Chamunda Mata Mandir Chauraha, etc.
A Maha-arti was conducted at Shahid Park at the conclusion of the rally. Prominent among those present included Rajendra Vasishtha, Surendra Chaturvedi, Mahesh Pujari, Rameshwar Dubey, Rajesh Trivedi, Ankit Chaubey, Hemant Vyas, Amay Apte, Niitn Sharma, Sanchit Sharma, Amey Sharma, Akhilesh Maharaj, Yogesh Sharma, Rajendra Sharma, Ravi Shukla, Shivendra Tiwari, Rajesh Vyas, Pramod Chaubey and Vijay Dikshit.
Simultaneous with the brahm-jagran yatra from Mahakaleshwar Temple, another grand procession of women members of all Brahmin communities kicked-off from Shahid Park. Both these processions crossed each other at Nai Sadak and creating an impressive atmosphere.Prior to the women’s rally, the worship of Lord Parshuram was done at Parshuram temple in Chanakyapuri, Nanakheda.
Women leaders including Nisha Tripathi, Prerna Manana, Pravina Badeka, Sulekha Vasishtha, Anjana Shukla rode in an an open jeep. Hundreds of other women drove two-wheelers and shouted slogans. E-rickshaws were made available for the disabled, old and women who could not drive two wheelers.
Beginning from Shahid Park along with the flag of Lord Parshuram, the rally passed through Tower Square, Chamunda Mata Temple, Malipura, Mahakal Temple, Harsiddhi Temple, Hariphatak over-bridge and returned to Tower Square. Here the rashtriya Brahmin mahasabha welcomed the rally.
At the conclusion of the rally, the women also participated in a Vedic recital, literary and cultural programme organised at Tower Square by Rashtriya Brahmin Yuva Jansabha. Prominent among those present included Seema Vashishtha, Kirti Modh, Nandini Joshi, Shaily Kachole, Rama Pandya, Yashoda Sharma, Rajshri Joshi, Dr Jaya Mishra, Shraddha Sharma, Anjali Bhatt among others.
2100 saffron flags, 10,000 fellows to join Parshuram darshan yatra
A massive Parasuram darshan yatra consisting 2100 saffron flags and about 10,000 Brahmin community fellows will be held from the Mahakaleshwar Temple at 9.30 am on Wednesday to mark Parashuram Jayanti Mahaparva or Akshaya Tritiya. Host Parshuram Yuva Brahmin Sangathan founder president Rajesh Trivedi and president Girish Pathak said the entire Brahmin society of the city has been invited to the Parshuram darshan yatra, in which women and girls will be included for the first time.
