
Fake note racket busted in Boudh, four held

BOUDH: A fake currency racket was busted by Boudh police and four persons were arrested in this connection here on Tuesday. Fake notes worth `50,000 in denominations of `2,000, `500, `200 and `100 were seized. The accused have been identified as Biswapati Sahu, Bhagwan Meher, Binod Kumar Sahu and Balram Meher. Additional SP S Panigrahi said the gang was involved in printing and circulation of fake notes. Biswapati, the prime accused, had set up a currency printing unit and the racket was active in circulation of fake notes in several places in Odisha, sources said.
Police seized fas worth `50,000, a car, a laptop and a colour printing machine from Biswapati.
Earlier, Boudh police had arrested Pramod Pradhan of Mathura village for possessing fake notes after receiving a complaint from Pravat Dalua of Rambhikata village. Four fake notes were seized from Pramod. After getting clues from Pramod, Boudh police was able to bust the fake currency racket.
