If you're reading this right now, you likely live or work in Dublin. And if that's the case, the odds are extremely favorable that you enjoy being here.

You may have heard by now that the results from Dublin's latest National Citizen Survey reveal 99 percent of residents consider Dublin to be an excellent or good place to live.

It has always been a priority for the city to learn what we can do to provide an environment in which Dublin residents and businesses can thrive. To successfully create this type of environment, the city has encouraged feedback and input from our residents about how we can continuously improve.

This is the fourth time that we have taken part in the National Citizen Survey, having previously participated in 2009, 2012 and 2015.

The National Citizen Survey was conducted via mail in partnership with the National Research Center.

The NRC is a leading research and evaluation firm focusing on the information requirements of the public sector, including local governments. NRC staff members are frequent presenters for the International City/County Management Association and the National League of Cities.

Nearly 500 of 1,500 randomly-selected residents representing all four wards responded to questions across three pillars of community (community characteristics, governance and participation) and eight facets of community (safety, mobility, natural environment, built environment, economy, recreation and wellness, education and enrichment and community engagement.

We want to extend our thanks and appreciation to all of the residents who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the survey.

Residents ranked Dublin higher than national benchmarks in most areas, but one area that stood out in particular was how residents viewed the city's governance.

Residents rated all aspects of local leadership and governance higher than national benchmarks, with Dublin among the highest ranked in the NRC's database.

Confidence in city government, acting in the best interest of residents, and honesty were all rated positively by 80 percent of residents. 94 percent rated city services positively, and 88 percent rated access to public information positively.

I encourage you to learn more by heading to DublinOhioUSA.gov/NCS.

On that page, you'll be able to view the complete report in addition to previous National Citizen Surveys, our previous Community Attitudes Surveys and our Public Opinion and Citizen Satisfaction Surveys.

We will continue to analyze the survey results and use them in guiding policy decisions to enhance and continue high-quality service delivery in Dublin.

While we take great pride in the fact that 99 percent of residents believe Dublin is a good or excellent place to live, City Council and staff know there is still work to be done, and we will continue working hard to get that number to 100 percent.
