Vadodara: The online admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009 will begin on Thursday. This year, students hailing from economically and socially backward families will be granted admissions on 5,000-odd seats in 327 schools in the city and the district.
The authorities have set up 30 receiving centres across the district to process the admission forms.
According to officials, last year, when the admission process for nearly 4,000 seats in 242 schools were conducted, a total of 3,600 admissions were granted under the RTE.
This year, students opting for admission in class one will be able to put the names of multiple schools as their choice.
As against the previous years, when the annual income slab for general category was at Rs 68,000 and OBC and SC/ST at Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000 respectively, this year the annual income slab has been fixed at Rs 1,50,000 for all the categories.
For rural areas, the income slab for general category was Rs 47000 which has been fixed at Rs 1,20,000 for all categories this year.
