Women police station in Rajouri settled 96 pc of complaints through counselling in 2017: SSP

The women police station in district of and settled 96 per cent of complaints through counselling last year, a senior police said today.

of Police (SSP) Yougal Manhas, however, said that they had zero tolerance policy towards cognizable offences and acts, and registered 43 FIRs at the women police station and stern legal action had been initiated against people involved in such acts.

The women police station in Rajouri, catering to the border district and nearby district, was set up in 2016 to provide grievance redressal to women in areas close to their homes.

In 2017, as many as 1,055 complaints were received at the women police station, out of which 1,012 were solved amicably through counselling, the said.

He said a number of matrimonial conflicts and issues were brought to the women police station and these were solved in a cordial and friendly manner by involving family elders through counselling.

The said that the main priority of the police station staff was to settle all minor issues in a friendly manner so that families were saved from disintegration.

Most of the complaints at the women police station are related to household conflicts such as quarrel between family members and husband-wife and such minor issues are dealt in a friendly way," he said.

He said that complaints of cruelty by husband, harassment by in-laws, rape cases and dowry were dealt with sternly.
