VIJAYAWADA: The Deeksha to be observed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium from 7 a.m to 7 p.m on April 20 resenting the injustice meted out to the State by the Centre, has been named as 'Dharma Porata Deeksha' (Fight for Justice).

Naidu has decided to observe fast on April 20, his birthday, to highlight the unfulfilled promises of Centre to the State at the time of State bifurcation.

The TDP leaders said that it is the first time in India for a chief minister to observe a hunger strike on his birthday.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Sub-Committee comprising ministers Kala Venkata Rao, Nara Lokesh, Kollu Ravindra and D Umamaheswara Rao, appointed to monitor the Deeksha, met at the Interim Government Complex (IGC) in Velagapudi on Tuesday and reviewed with officials the arrangements to be made for the fast.

While Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham is entrusted with the task of making arrangements for the Deeksha, officials of the Police department will take make bandobust arrangements.

For GFX:

Two-pronged strategy

As Naidu observes Deeksha in his capacity as Chief Minister, the government will extend invitation to all parties and people's associations seeking their support for the Deeksha

Two daises to be arranged at IGMC. CM will observe Deeksha on one while cultural events will be performed on the other

Cultural shows to reflect the negligent attitude of the Centre towards AP as well as highlight the development and welfare schemes being implemented by the State government despite facing financial crunch

Several ministers, MLCs and MLAs to observe Deeksha along with CM on the same dais

Seating arrangements will be made for 10,000 people at the Deeksha venue

LED screens to be arranged in and outside the venue
