PFA Premier League Team of the Year: five Man City stars included
Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah is in but his Anfield team-mates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane miss out

The 2017-2018 PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been announced
Five Manchester City players have been selected in this season’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year.
The champions secured the title last weekend and are on course to break a host of records providing they continue their sparkling form. After 33 matches Pep Guardiola’s side have won 28 while only losing two and drawing three.
In the team of the year, which is voted for by PFA members, City players dominate with right-back Kyle Walker, centre-back Nicolas Otamendi, midfielders David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne and forward Sergio Aguero named in the XI.
Reacting to the announcement, City congratulated the five stars and praised Otamendi for being the club’s “most-improved player” and Aguero for scoring 30 goals this season, including 21 in the Premier League. Argentine Aguero is named in the PFA team for the first time.
While City dominate the team of the year with five selections, Tottenham have three players make the side with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all providing one each.

In attack Aguero is joined by Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Liverpool goal machine Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian’s Anfield team-mates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane miss out though, much to the surprise of the Liverpool Echo.

Three City stars - De Bruyne, Silva and Leroy Sane - have been named on the six-man shortlist for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award with De Gea (Manchester United), Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) and Salah (Liverpool).
Sane also features on the PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist with City team-mates Ederson Moraes and Raheem Sterling. Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) and Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham) gets nods.
The PFA Awards will be held on Sunday in London.
