Southwest victim identified after engine blowout, emergency landing

The person who died on a terrifying Southwest flight after an engine exploded midair on Tuesday has been identified as a public relations specialist for Wells Fargo.

Jennifer Riordan, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, perished after the left engine of Flight 1380 — bound for Dallas from LaGuardia Airport — suddenly burst around 11:30 a.m., according to KOAT-TV.

Riordan, vice president of community relations at Wells Fargo  , was named as one of “Three New Mexicans to Know” by Albuquerque Business First in 2016.

A female passenger on the plane was partially sucked out the hole in a window when a piece of shrapnel from the explosion blew it out.

It was not clear if Riordan was the same woman who almost went airborne out of the window.

The Southwest Airlines   Boeing 737-700 made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport, where its 143 customers and five crew members were deplaned.
