BEAVER — There was more than fishing going on Saturday at Bradys Run Park during the opening of trout season.

“I was there at 3 in the afternoon, and it was rowdy to say the least,” Beaver County Commissioner Sandie Egley said Wednesday during the commissioners work session meeting. “There was a lot of alcohol.”

The start of trout season traditionally packs the park and is a popular destination for anglers. If they should want to have a few beers — in cans, not bottles — and as long as they are of legal drinking age, there is nothing illegal in doing so, county Parks and Tourism Director Tim Ishman said.

The county sheriff’s office generally beefs up patrols during the day, and did so Saturday, Ishman said.

Egley suggested before next year’s opener that county officials have a meeting to come up with a plan to keep order in the park, she said.

“I don’t know what the answer is,” Egley said.
